Notes I had added to, and the version I now have was last updated four days ago. I quickly learned that the "recovered" version I deleted probably had the I deleted the "recovered" version without looking at it, thinking it was a recovered version of the document from which I had already made a copy and added notes to.
When I started up my laptop this morning, two versions of my word document were open - one with the regular name, and one that If it is still in your Trash, you can drag it out of the trash, but if you emptied the trash, your only recovery option is Time Machine. The AutoRecovery file that Word had, you deleted. That means there is no AutoRecovery file to recover. I force shut down my Word, after saving this copy of my word document and updated my laptop overnight. From the sounds of things, you force quit Word before saving your replacement copy. Instead of telling our young people to plan ahead, we should tell them to plan to be surprised. To show the Library folder, in the Finder, click the Go menu, and then hold down OPTION.

Click the Restore button at the top of the document. Since you are using Mac OS X 10.7 (Lion), the Library folder is hidden by default.
